Tory Lanez To Spend Nine Years Behind Bars

Tory Lanez has spent the last three years battling for his freedom after being convicted of the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Following the verdict that landed the R&B star in prison last year, he recently requested the judge for a retrial.

Furthermore, Lanez and his team have categorically disputed these allegations and have maintained his innocence. Not only that, but the Chixtape artist has been adamantly opposed to the ruling. Tory Lanez went in court on Monday, May 8th, and stated his case to Judge David Herriford. The judge adjourned court that morning and announced his ruling the next day.

Upon leaving the courtroom, it was reported that Tory Lanez pleaded to the judge on his way out. “Please don’t ruin my life. I could be your son. I could be your brother,” he said to Judge Herriford. However, according to reports, the plea fell on deaf ears as he exited the courtroom. Later, the next morning (May 9th) Judge Herriford gave his decision to the court. Tory Lanez’s motion for a new trial was swiftly denied. Additionally, his defense team filed a motion to disqualify the judge from the case.

Tory Lanez Facing 9 Years For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

In other news, it appears Tory Lanez could be facing some major time for shooting the Houston Hottie. According to Deputy Los Angeles County District Attorney Alexander Bott, the rapper is facing up to nine years in prison. On Tuesday afternoon, he made his predictions speaking with reporters outside the courtroom. As can be seen from the video clip above shared by Meghan Cuniff, leading legal affairs journalist who’s been extensively covering the case. The sentencing range on this case is roughly nine years all the way up to 22 years and eight months,” Bott shared.

Furthermore, Bott added that it would be a minimum of nine years. Although a judge could possibly give Lanez less time than that, Bott is confident that won’t be the case. Additionally, when asked if this was the “appropriate” sentence, Bott declined to answer due to decisions like that not being up to him. However when asked, “as a human” Bott was more willing to give an answer. “So I would say that, any time you point a gun at someone and pull the trigger five times, that’s an action that could easily kill a person,” he told reporters. “I think that’s an action that deserves serious consequences.”
